Dental Cysts
Dental cysts are fluid or air-filled bubbles that appear in various places in the mouth, such as gums or tooth roots. Cysts are divided into types. They may occur due to development or due to infection. Cysts are named by a physician examination and the appropriate treatment method can be applied. Some of them cause pain and swelling and make themselves known, while others do not cause pain. In both cases, it is recommended that the cysts be checked by a physician.
What Causes Tooth Cyst?
Tooth cyst formation can be caused by trauma, tooth decay, poor cleaning of root canal treatment, holes formed by decay and teeth that have been buried for a long time. Sometimes it can be seen that it is genetically formed.
As the formation of the tooth cyst continues, it destroys the bone tissue around it. When left untreated, it continues to grow and causes bigger problems. The use of painkillers or antibiotics does not prevent the cyst from forming. If the patient does nothing and waits for the cyst to go away on its own, it will continue to grow.
Tooth Cyst Treatment
If the tooth cyst is detected in a short time, the problem can be solved by extracting the tooth. However, in some cases this may not be enough. The root of the extracted tooth should be thoroughly cleaned to avoid any cyst residue. It should not be forgotten that no type of cyst can be treated with medication or antibiotics. Trying to burst the cyst at home or trying to treat it with natural methods will lead you to a worse situation. For this reason, when you see a cyst, you should be examined by your dentist immediately.
There are various surgical methods for the treatment of the cyst depending on the tobacco, location and size of the cyst. First of all, local anaesthesia is applied to the application area for the comfort of the patient. Afterwards, the cyst layer is reached through a small incision in the gum. While cleaning the cyst, care should be taken not to damage the surrounding nerves and tissues. When the cleaning process is finished, the incision is closed with sutures and the procedure is terminated.
